As families and parents we never plan or expect tragedies to happen to our children. We don’t think about it and we cannot imagine it.

On November 7th, my son Bobby was critically injured while riding his motorcycle when the driver of an on-coming mini-van turned into his lane and hit him. He suffered multiple life-threatening injuries. Thanks to the incredible staff at UMASS Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts and after five weeks in Intensive Care, Bobby is on the road to recovery. However, one of the injuries he suffered was to his spinal cord which has resulted in the loss of using his legs.

After leaving UMASS Medical, Bobby was in Spaulding Rehabilitation in Boston to learn to adapt to his new situation, begin to manage the challenges he will face and learn how to continue to live his life in a different way. His attitude and forward looking view is that of a courageous young man who did not choose for this to happen but has accepted it and plans to face it and adapt. For me, this is a new journey in my life as Bobby’s father. I want ask each of you to join me in this Journey for Bobby.
